Nugent out for season

Not a great day for former Jets.

First Miami Dolphins QB Chad Pennington was lost for the season and now the Cincinnati Bengals appear to have lost kicker Mike Nugent for the season in today’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts.

Nugent kicked an onside kick with 2:35 remaining in the game, but suffered a knee injury on the play and had to be carried off the field. He indicated after the game that he thought the injury was serious.

“It doesn’t look good,” Nugent said.

Nugent said he felt something tear in the knee as he was rushing toward the ball to try to recover the onside kick — before he made any contact with anyone.

“The ball was on its way and I kind of cut back to take a guy and that’s when it happened,” Nugent said.
