No plea for Lawrence Taylor

The other LT, Lawrence Taylor, failed to reach a plea deal from charges accusing him of statutory rape involving a 16-year-old Bronx girl in May.

Defense attorney Arthur Aidala said this afternoon outside the Rockland County Courthouse that Taylor would not accept an agreement that brings 10 years probation, which would be mandatory if he pleaded guilty to the felony charges in the case.

Judge William Kelly adjourned the case until Dec. 7.

Taylor, a former Bergen County, N.J., resident, allegedly told Ramapo police that he paid $300 to have sex with a prostitute in the Holiday Inn in Montebello on May 6. She turned out to be a 16-year-old Bronx runaway.

Rockland District Attorney Thomas Zugibe said Wednesday said prosecutors have discussed a six-month jail sentence and 10 years’ probation if Taylor pleads to the top indictment counts — third-degree rape, which involves sexual intercourse with a girl age 16 or younger, and third-degree criminal sexual act, which involves oral sex, in this case with a minor.

The conviction would include Taylor registering as a sex offender.
