Bye Bye Feely?

AUTHOR: | IN: Jets | COMMENTS: 3 Comments

The Jets have signed Cowboys kicker Nick Folk to a one-year deal, perhaps signaling the end of Jay Feely’s Jets career.   While the unrestricted free agent Feely has maintained that he wants to stay in New York, a new agreement has not been reached. Not sure about this signing. Feely, 33, was great this season and most of his misses can be attributed to either a bad snap, poor hold, or dumb decision by Ryan to go for a 51 yd. FG against the Colts in the Championship game. Folk, 25, meanwhile, hit just 18 of 28 field goals last season [...]

How the CBA affects the Jets

AUTHOR: | IN: Jets | COMMENTS: None Yet

In case you haven’t heard (or couldn’t care less), the NFL Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) will expire on March 5, meaning the NFL will have an uncapped year this season. (Let’s not even get into a potential strike for 2011 right now). What does this mean for the Jets? Under the no-cap rules, the Jets, with seven players who will be unrestricted free agents, cannot sign a player who is an unrestricted free agent, unless one of the seven Jets signs with another team.  Note that a player can be an UFA this season if he has more than 6 seasons [...]

Bye Bye Dearth and more news

AUTHOR: | IN: Jets | COMMENTS: None Yet

DEARTH ON WAY OUT? The Jets have signed Kansas City long snapper Tanner Purdum, 25, a member of the Chiefs practice squad this season.  Could mean an end to James Dearth, 34, the Jets long snapper since 2001, who is an unrestricted free agent this season.  Yes, there were some questions about Dearth this season after a few bad snaps on Feely FGs, but Dearth has been a rock for over 8 seasons now. RYAN ADDS RAVENS COACH Add Mark Carrier to the list. The Jets have hired the former Ravens assistant to be in charge of the Defensive Line.  [...]

Sanchez elects for surgery

AUTHOR: | IN: Jets | COMMENTS: None Yet

It is being reported that QB Mark Sanchez has decided to go ahead with surgery on his left knee after visiting with Dr. James Andrews last week. The surgery, to stabilize the patella ligament in his left knee, injured when Sanchez was at USC, will not cause Sanchez to miss any preseason time. The Daily News is reporting that Jets doctors will be performing the surgery. Does this scare anyone else but me?
