1) Edge rushing DL or OLB should be top priority.
2) Get a big, physical CB that stays on the field more than Strickland. Though only rated #5 on the depth chart, our pass defense was better in each game Strick played, and noticeably much more ordinary when not.
3) Get rid of the Ghost, get a 5th rounder for him or something - we're here talkin' about how the Jets need an excellent pass rusher to make them a dominant D - well, that's what the hell the #6 pick was wasted on Gholston for! What chaps me is that beneath that mild mannered, "do it for the team" blah-blah that he projects, lies a guy who got a fat contract, didn't live up to it not even one little bit, and actually hurt the team's chance to get an edge rusher because of the cap hit. If ever there was a Manchurian Candidate of NY Jets Football, Gholston was it.
4) OL Depth, Punter, FB will be needs (hoping T-Rich sticks around for another year, but hey guys... he is 38 after all)

5) Expectations - DL will be solid, Pouha was a stud this year and DeVito really came into his own as well. Douglas was a find; Greene helped out when Jenx went down, but I see him not here next season. I expect Rapoti to develop under Pettin/Ryan tutelage and with one year under his belt. I look at the OLB's, and yeah, you might make a case for getting some help there, but the best two things this D can get are (A) a healthy Kris Jenkins back; and (B) an excellent DL edge rusher. Just those two alone will make EVERYBODY on the D BETTER in EVERY WAY.

I agree on the pass rusher. Interesting to see Ellis go to Pro Bowl, wouldn't have called that in a million years, must still be doing something right. Thomas Jones, out of gas, or still dealing with an injured knee. He couldn't get it done, but perhaps we should be looking at it as a guy who gutted it out for the last month with an injury and could remain valuable next year as Green establishes himself as #1 and we see what Washington is after the injury. TJ is also a considered a GREAT locker room guy.
