Three Jets have been announced as starters for the AFC in the Pro Bowl.
1. Darrelle Revis (2nd pro bowl, 1st as a starter).
2. Nick Mangold (2nd pro bowl, 1st as a starter).
3. Alan Faneca (9th consecutive as a starter).
Surprisingly, Thomas Jones, with 1,324 yards (3rd in the NFL) and 12 TDs will not be a starter and was named a 1st alternative along with D’Brickashaw Ferguson and Bart Scott. David Harris and Shaun Ellis were named 2nd alternatives.
If anything, add a little more motivation to Thomas Jones’ motor for Sunday.
Vikings QB Brett Favre and Saints LB Jonathan Vilma were named [...]

Pro Bowl Announced
Bring on the Bengals
To get warmed up for Sunday’s hopeful home and home with the Bengals, Jet Press has contacted Mickey Mentzer of www.whodeyfans.com, a Cincinnati Bengals fan site, and asked him a few questions in anticipation of Sunday.
1. Which is clicking more this year for the Bengals, Passing or Running?
Whodeyfans: The running game. Cedric Benson recorded the first 1000 yd rushing season in his career and has 6 games where he has run for more than 100yds. The passing game has been terrible. The loss of Chris Henry really limited the Bengals ability to stretch the field and they have not found a [...]
Let the Tweets begin
In what has now become the modern form of trash-talking, Chad Ochocinco has ‘tweeted’ what no other WR has been able to do to Darrelle Revis this season:
“I’m coming to the Big Apple to give NY what they’ve never seen, an escape inmate gone wild on Revis Island . . . try and cover me!’’
In what can only be described as the apocalypse, Peter King of CNNSI has picked Darrelle Revis for Defensive Player of the Year.
Although King praises other defensive players, (Dumervil, Sharper, Woodson), he relies on, and accurately so, the following stat from Aaron Schatz of Football Outsiders:
“Schatz has built a database that illuminates some dark statistical positions. At cornerback, for instance, interceptions are often not the best measurement if the player is not being thrown at much. So Schatz keeps numbers on the other important stats for defensive backs — average yards allowed by team to No. 1 receivers (figuring that many corners [...]
The Jets regular season finale has been flexed by NBC to 8:20 PM on Sunday night in what hopes to be a preview of the AFC Wild Card game.
If the Jets win Sunday against the Bengals, the teams will most likely play again the following week in Cincinnati. This could mean that Cincy will not play any starters in an attempt to prepare for the playoffs. It could also mean that Cincy will play some starters in an attempt to get a feel for the Jets gameplan. Time will tell…
An open letter to the Colts
To whomever had the decision to tell Peyton Manning that his day was done, I have one thing to say:
Thank you.
Love,
The Jet Press
Here’s to you, Curtis Painter
Yes, the Jets are still in this playoff hunt. Don’t ask how, don’t ask why, don’t ask for how much longer. The reality is that the 7-7 Jets are in Indy this week against the 14-0 Colts and there is log jam for the 2 wild card spots.
At 8-6, the Ravens and Broncos are currently in the game. At 7-7, the Jets, Dolphins, Titans, Jaguars, and Steelers are a game out. (with a Jets win and a Ravens loss, Dolphins loss, and Jaguars loss, the Jets are in the wild card with 1 game to play).
The question on everyone’s mind, of [...]
To add insult to injury, Atlanta Falcons TE Tony Gonzalez expressed complete shock when describing his TD catch Sunday to beat the Jets.
Q: On the game winning touchdown.
A: “It looked like they went zone. Throughout the game, I was getting jammed all the way down the field. They did a really good job of taking me out on that final drive. On the last play I said to myself ‘Oh my God, I think they are going zone here.’ And I thought I might have a shot to get open. Sure enough they went zone, I did a turnout and [...]
Ned Ryerson?
At what point in yesterdays excruciating 10-7 loss to the Falcons did you realize that you had been there before? At what point did you know that these Jets were going to lay an egg and play an un-inspired, unemotional, lazy game?
1. Was is when the Jets offense sputtered through the game as if this was a gimme?
2. Was it when Feely couldn’t attempt his first FG, in the red zone, because Clemens dropped the snap?
3. Was it when Feely’s 2nd FG attempt, to end the half, sailed wide right?
4. Was it when Feely’s 3rd FG attempt was blocked?
5. Was [...]
Are you kidding me?
Before we blast the Jets for their pitiful showing today against the Falcons, and believe me, we will blast them tomorrow, it is of importance to note that the Oakland Raiders just defeated the Denver Broncos, in Denver.
If the Jets had won today, they would have been 8-6, along with the Ravens and Broncos for the 2 wild card spots.
Now, the 7-7 Jets are behind the Broncos and Ravens for the last spot.
Amazing….
Broncos Lose
Bengals Lose
Dolphins Lose
Only in New York, kiddies.
