Safe scores all around today.
The Jets played a conservative run approached game and the 17-6 final score adequately showed it.
Jets Grades from Sunday
QB: B.
Mark Sanchez (13 of 17, 154, 1 INT) was controlled and calm in the pocket. The only major complaint is Sanchez’s refusal to slide when on the run. (3 runs for 27 yds). A scare in the third quarter should wake him up from here on out.
RB: B.
Thomas Jones (25 for 75 yds) has been the model of consistency this season. Another solid running game. Shonn Greene (10 for 36 yds) fumbled early but showed some spark [...]

Report Card Monday
Slow and low, that is the tempo
So whatcha whatcha want?
You want a blowout? You want Sanchez throwing for 300 yards and 3 TD’s? Not gonna happen this year.
In a world gone mad, the Jets got it together Sunday and played to their strengths, defeating the Carolina Panthers, 17-6 in a run-filled, controlled, defensive game.
Two Darrell Revis Interceptions, including a 67 yard TD, set the tone Sunday, as the Jets pressured Panthers QB Jake Delhomme all day (14 for 34, 130 yards, 4 INTs), and used the running game to set up QB Mark Sanchez and his New Style which included controlled passes and utilizing Dustin Keller and [...]
San-chise ready for takeoff?
Word out of Jets camp is that QB Mark Sanchez had his best practice of the week and is ready to take on the Carolina Panthers tomorrow.
This is particularly good news for the Jets for two reasons:
1. Sanchez is coming off a terrible game last week at New England and public opinion was undecided on whether a benching was required this week;
2. Carolina, while a good defensive team, does not blitz with their linebackers and relies on their front 4 to provide pressure. This will allow Sanchez some added time to focus on the fundamentals and drop back and throw, [...]
Let’s give thanks
On this, the eve of Thanksgiving, it’s time for The Jet Press Annual What I am thankful for.
1. I am thankful that Eric Mangini is not our coach.
2. I am thankful the Jets have some attitude this year.
3. I am thankful the Jets started out at 3-0 and gave us some hope for the future.
4. I am thankful for Rex Ryan benching Kerry Rhodes. Finally.
5. I am thankful for Bill Simmons.
6. I am thankful Bill Belichick went for it on 4th and 2 and was denied, thus extending the Patriots fall from grace.
7. I am thankful Ronnie Brown is out for the [...]
Injury updates and Notes
CB Donald Strickland suffered a concussion Sunday and it out indefinitely.
CB Dwight Lowery is listed as doubtful from an upper ankle sprain he suffered during a kickoff return Sunday. Obviously the loss of Leon Washington is hurting the Jets big time.
- The 49ers have dropped tampering charges against the Jets in connection with WR Michael Crabtree.
Sit Sanchez?
Peter King, in his weekly Monday Morning Quarterback column wrote the following:
7. I think you have to sit Mark Sanchez, Rex Ryan. The game’s overwhelming for him right now. His last pick Sunday in Foxboro was just plain stupid, if not panicky. Time for Kellen Clemens.
Granted Sanchez has made horrible decisions this year. But sit him? At this point?
Throwin’ up
It wasn’t the fact the Jets lost to the Patriots, 34-14;
It wasn’t the fact that the Jets came out absolutely flat in the first half and were down at one point, 24-7;
It wasn’t the fact that Wes Welker, with 15 catches and 192 yards, shredded the Jets defense, with once again, Kerry Rhodes nowhere to be found;
This was Mark Sanchez’s time to declare to the NFL that he was ready to play with the big boys. This was Sanchise’s time to show the Jets that he was the real deal. In a must-win game, Sanchez threw four Interceptions and lost [...]
Against all odds?
Here’s some stats courtesy of the NY Post:
*The 6-3 Patriots are coming off one of the most devastating losses of the Bill Belicheck era, in the form of their 35-34 choke job to the Colts on Sunday, and they’re certain to be in an ornery mood.
*Since 2003, the Patriots are 20-1 in regular-season games following a loss, meaning they simply do not lose consecutive games.
* The Patriots haven’t lost at home this season, outscoring opponents 137-45 in four games at Gillette Stadium.
This should be an interesting game.
With Jenkins and Washington out for the Jets, and Wes Welker available for the Patriots, [...]
Cry me a river
Pretty good… Pretty… Pretty good.
The focus all week in Jets land has not been on the teams loss to Jacksonville last sunday; it hasn’t been on the freefall that has seen the Jets lose 4 of the 5 and face first place New England this week.
Cry me a river….
Jets land has been attacked by the media writing about how Rex Ryan broke down in front of his players this week and cried. The media is up in the air as to whether Ryan’s “cry, cry again” antics (an Artsy Movie), were good or bad.
HELLO !!! BIG GAME THIS WEEK, GUYS [...]
Ryan fires Defensive Line coach
In a surprising move, Jets coach Rex Ryan has terminated the contract of Defensive line coach Kerry Locklin.
According to Rich Cimini at the NY Daily News:
“There were some disagreements, let’s put it that way,” Ryan acknowledged. “There were some issues, some personal issues that are behind this.”
According to team sources, Locklin was the line coach in name only. In reality, assistants Jeff Weeks (Ryan’s old college roommate) and retired Falcon pass rusher turned instructor Chuck Smith had been sharing the job “for a while,” said one source, who described Locklin as a “token” coach. Late Tuesday, Weeks was officially named [...]
